At The Ardent Quill, I’m committed to helping you refine your manuscript into its best possible version. Whether you’re looking for a manuscript critique, a deep developmental edit, a detailed line edit, or a final proofread, I tailor my services to meet the specific needs of your work.

Follow the simple steps below to get started on your editing journey. Once you’ve completed the process, I’ll be in touch to discuss your manuscript and the next steps. Let’s make your manuscript shine!

Step 1: Request a Free Sample Edit (Optional)

If you’re unsure whether my editing style is right for you, you’re welcome to request a free sample edit (Available for 1 page of your manuscript). I offer this for full-length manuscripts on a case-by-case basis and based on availability.

This step is optional. If you’re confident and ready to move forward, feel free to skip to Step 2.

Step 2: Start the Conversation

Ready to bring your project to life? The first step is to reach out with an Editorial Inquiry. This opens the door for us to discuss your goals, the scope of work, project timeline, and the type of editing support you’re looking for.

Once I receive your inquiry, I’ll follow up and start the conversation. If you’d like to move forward, I’ll provide a personalized Editing Services Agreement in PDF format. This agreement will outline the scope of work, timeline, and pricing details so everything is clear from the beginning. Once that agreement is signed by both parties, we can move on to the deposit.

Step 3: Confirm Your Payment

After we’ve reviewed and signed the agreement, I’ll send you an invoice based on the confirmed services and word count. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your spot in the editing queue.

You’ll receive a secure payment link via email. Once the deposit is received, your project is officially booked!

The remaining balance will be due before the edited manuscript is returned.

Step 4: The Editing Process Begins

Once your deposit is received, I’ll begin working on your manuscript based on the agreed-upon timeline and scope of work.

All work is completed via Microsoft Word, with Track Changes and inline comments unless otherwise arranged.

Step 5: Project Completion & Final Delivery

Once your manuscript has been fully edited, I’ll send an invoice with your remaining total due, and once payment is received, your edited manuscript will be released.

You’ll receive your document in Microsoft Word format with all edits clearly marked using Track Changes. This allows you to review every suggestion at your own pace.

Don’t forget: You can ask follow-up questions via email—one round (up to 30 minutes of my time) is included with every service.

Step 6: Optional Follow-Up & Ongoing Support

After you’ve reviewed your edited manuscript, you may have questions or want to dive deeper into specific suggestions—I’m here to help.

Every editing service includes one round of follow-up questions (up to 30 minutes via email) at no extra charge.
